Is an online or distance degree valid in India?

Yes. An online or distance degree is valid when the university is approved by UGC-DEB (University Grants Commission – Distance Education Bureau). Such a degree is accepted for government jobs, private jobs and higher studies, just like a regular degree. Before taking admission, always check that the university and course appear on the official UGC-DEB list.

What is the difference between online and distance education?

In online education you attend live and recorded classes on a learning portal and usually give exams online. In distance education you study mainly from printed or digital study material and give exams at a centre. Both are valid if the university is UGC-DEB approved – choose the one that suits your time and learning style.

Can I do an online degree while working?

Yes. Online and distance programmes are made for working people, homemakers and students who cannot attend a regular college. Classes are flexible, recordings are available, and most universities allow you to study at your own pace from anywhere in India.
